Dome

AT THE TIME OF CONSTRUCTION, THE CENTENNIAL HALL BOASTED THE LARGEST DOME IN THE WORLD

The record-breaking span of 65 metres achieved by Berg was made possible by the use of new materials and modern technology. The space covered by a dome creates a special atmosphere, which is best described by the great Bauhaus artist, Lothar Schreyer, who wrote the following about Centennial Hall: “It was as if the universe opened up, revealing a stellar road, and offering a view of the source of light.” In the unique space under the Dome, visitors may currently watch a multimedia light and sound show designed by ANTIVJ, a group of visual artists from Belgium. An outstanding performance displayed in the videomappin¬g technology is dedicated to architecture and industrial aesthetics of modernism.
